Casa Aguila will arguably be the most advanced home ever built in San Diego County, looking to achieve many firsts for our region. It will be San Diego's first Certified Passive House, seek the County's first onsite wastewater treatment permit, seek the County's first permit to utilize all collected rainwater for all indoor water use, and strive for eventual grid-disconnection through utilization of battery power, Solar PV, and a 45-foot wind turbine (the blades alone are 17 feet tall!).

The project is located in Ramona, CA and is named for the Golden Eagles which frequently fly over the property.

About the Project Team

A complex project such as Casa Águila requires a sophisticated and integrated team of people who perceive the Home as a System. The team members are comprised of the owner, the designers, the engineers, the consultants, the general contractor, the subcontractors, and the materials suppliers.  All must work together and treat the project in a holistic manner.  No aspect of the project is isolated from the rest, it is an ecology of components.

The project owners, Amy McQuillan and Pete Beauregard, have a courageous vision to build a home the likes which has never been constructed in San Diego before.  They wish for this project to be an example for the rest of San Diego for what is possible in Green Building.  As such, it is a case study and demonstration project, though this of course will be the home they live in themselves for many years to come.

Amy and Pete brought aboard Andy Wilt of Andrew Wilt Designs to design this beautiful home, and Alliance Green Builders to construct it.  AGB brought together the rest of the team that would be vital to achieve Amy & Pete's vision.

In late 2013, Jeff Adams and Rich Williams established Alliance Green Builders. The intent of the new company formation was to provide San Diego a powerhouse for general contracting of green, high-performance buildings.  Jeff and Rich brought together our region’s leaders in various fields of expertise as part of the AGB Team. With those collaborators,  together with Rich and Jeff’s combined 60-years of experience in construction, and having a deep knowledge of building science and performance to draw from,  AGB are San Diego’s leaders in advanced home building.  What AGB brings to San Diego for design/construction of custom homes is unparalleled.  AGB, Building Tomorrow’s Home for Today.

What makes for a green or high-performance home?  Our philosophy is that  green and high-performance design/construction is simply “Building to a higher standard of quality.”  We like to believe that we are bringing a level of craftsmanship to the building process that goes beyond aesthetic quality.  A building should PERFORM for its owners:  It should allow occupants to enjoy better health and feel better in their home by providing a high level of  indoor air quality and thermal comfort.  It should look after the owner’s financial interests by providing energy efficiency, water efficiency, and durability.  It should provide more leisure time for the owners with lower maintenance requirements.  And it should allow owners to feel that their choice to build green has contributed towards reducing their footprint on the environment. In short, we strive to have owners be happier in life because of their decision to work with us.
